Endometriosis is an issue many women face. When the
endometriosis tissue is visible outisde the womb. This matter is very serious
as it can even result in the miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy. According to
Dr. Lucky Saraswat, a consultant gynacologist at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary
in UK says patients with endometriosis are at a greater risk of enduring
difficulties during the pregnancy and even miscarriage in some cases.
A reasonable study was done on a total of 14,655 women
whether or not they were diagnosed with endometriosis to evaluate the
results. According to Dr. Saraswat this is a slightly normal condition and at
times is not known of as well. According to this study in comparision to the
8280 women who were not diagnosed with endometriosis and to the 5375 who were
diagnosed with endometriosis were at a greater risk of complications during
their pregnancy. In fact there was 76% risk of them suffering from miscarriage
(odds ratio at 1.76) and were at three times at high risk of ectopic pregnancy
(OR 2.7).
Even ladies with previous endometriosis issue are at risk of
encountering issues like ante-and postpartum haemorrhage and preterm birth. Dr.
Saraswat further says with certain care and counseling on endometroiosis
concerning family planning and care during pregnancy can overcome this issue.
